Hello, my name is Rachel Q. Stine…
I’m a textile and fiber artist based in Oil City, PA. My main medium is block printing on canvas, and each bag is handmade, by me! I started sewing as a child, and my first project was a tote bag because I couldn’t find one exactly like I
wanted, so I made my own. It was a rocky start, full of thread jams and I didn’t realize how a sewing machine worked until years later. I took sewing classes in high school, and I really wanted to learn how to make clothes. I graduated from Kent State University with a B.A. in Fashion Design, and
while I was there, I became interested in print and pattern design.
Fast forward a few years, and I learned block printing as an avenue to transfer my print design to fabric, making my designs come to life.
My studio name, Querida Designs, comes from my middle name, Querida.
It means wanted, dear, or loved. And that is just what I hope my work to be! I want the things I make to be wanted, dear, and loved. I create with function in mind, but I also love creating new prints and patterns in all methods. Lately it’s often through the medium of block printing, but I also
dabble in dyeing techniques, and pretty much every other textile/fiber art under the sun. I strive to create high quality items that can be well used, but are also pieces of art.
You can find me online at www.queridadesigns.com, on social media @querida_designs, and I might just be at market or show near you!
